OC alumnus and former president, Dr. J. Terry Johnson (64), was recently featured in an article in
the Daily Oklahoman about the book he has recently written titled, "Fairways and Green Pastures":
Johnson's life experiences are woven into his musings on golfing. Topping it off are his references to biblical truths. Brooks Mitchell's photography, enhanced by Josh Dyer's computer graphics, add value to the package.
A Springfield, Mo., native, Johnson was an administrator at Oklahoma Christian for 32 years, serving as president 21 years and chancellor for five years. His writings have been printed in numerous religious periodicals.
Johnson says his book is "designed to be an inspirational gift book for anyone who enjoys the game of golf.” He says he uses one of Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s most difficult courses, Ram Rock at Horseshoe Bay Resort, as the backdrop of what he calls "a contemporary spiritual journey.” His other manuscripts do not use a religious theme.
He writes, "The tests of our character that come into play during a single round of golf are both variable and endless. All facets of our physical and emotional being are put on the line.”
