Eagle Packs for Kids to benefit Oklahoma City school children
Monday, July 23, 2007
“Eagle Packs for Kids” is a new project sponsored by the Office for Alumni Relations at Oklahoma Christian University to provide backpacks for children in the Oklahoma City Public School system.
Working in conjunction with the G.O.A.L.S. (Greater Oklahomans Achieving Lifelong Success) project, our goal is to provide 1000 backpacks for underprivileged kids in the Oklahoma City area. This is a great way for alumni to get involved with OC while giving back to the community.
In addition to the backpacks provided by Oklahoma Christian alumni, students, faculty, and staff, G.O.A.L.S. will also be providing brand new socks, t-shirts, underwear, immunization shots, and vision/hearing screenings at a back-to-school event on Monday, August 13 from 9 am to 3 pm at Douglas High School in Oklahoma City.
For every $8 that is donated to this program, OC’s Office for Alumni Relations will put a brand new backpack (complete with an OC logo) on the back of one Oklahoma City Public Schools student. Whether your donation helps one child or 500 children, realize the power you have to give these students a boost of confidence on their first day of school that they couldn’t otherwise afford.
