Congratulations to all 504 Oklahoma Christian runners in this year’s
Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. For the third year in a row, we had
more participants than any other organization.
The Oklahoma Christian community has been very intentional about the
marathon. After 15 runners from OC participated in 2006, admissions
director Darci Thompson and dean of students Neil Arter took the baton
and ran with it. They signed up 182 runners in 2007, followed by 416 in
2008. Last year, 522 runners signed up through Oklahoma Christian,
including staff, students, alumni and family. Athletic director Curtiz
Janz has also been instrumental in the success and training of TeamOC.
The race is the primary focus of the campus fitness initiative known
as TeamOC. In fact, the runners have their own t-shirt, Flickr
group, facebook page and a page on the popular
marathon training Web site dailymile.com.
The OC men’s cross country team placed first overall in the Memorial
Marathon’s relay event. The women’s cross country team placed 11th
To all the participants, the Oklahoma Christian community is proud of
