Oklahoma Christian University’s nursing graduates had a higher pass
rate for their registered nursing exam than the state and national
averages in 2009. The Oklahoma Christian graduates had a pass rate of
88.89 percent on their National Council Licensure Examination, while
the state and national pass rates were 86.67 percent and 88.42 percent,
According to Lindy Fly, director of nursing and assistant professor,
the credit goes to the faculty that serve in the nursing program.
"We are so blessed to have Kay Elder, Beth Scott, Shawna Hood and
Becky O’Neal as nursing faculty,” Fly said. "Each one of them strives
for excellence in the classroom and in the accompanying clinical
components. The pass rates are reflective of their dedication to
instill the professional practice of nursing into every student.
"In addition, the 2009 graduates are all now working in various
hospitals, and the nursing department has received numerous ‘good
reports’ of their professionalism and integrity within their nursing
