What are you most known for? Kappa D2 Basketball
What is your true calling? Ministry, whether full time, part time, interning or
just living the word.
How'd you find this calling? One summer I finally caved in to Dudley Chancey and
interned at the Weatherford Church of Christ. After that it was pretty obvious
that youth ministry was the direction that God was calling me. A few talks with
Tony Alley also provided a lot of direction, along with the encouragement of my
friends at OC.
What is your biggest personal or professional achievement
so far?
I have been working at the Simi Church of Christ
for almost four years now. With the turnover rate of youth ministers being so
high, I consider myself very blessed to have such a strong home to work from,
especially in Southern California. Also, being voted Rho Beau of the year
(2003) was pretty cool.
What is your proudest moment? I remember feeling very proud telling my parents that
I had accepted the job offer here in Simi.
What is the biggest professional or personal hurdle that
you've overcome?
My dad battled a brain tumor for 23 years, and
that had a profound impact on me as a man, a son, and as a youth minister. But
the comfort of knowing that my father is with our Lord has become a huge
blessing to my life.
What is something people should know about you that is
not on your resumé?
I'm an avid guitar player.
Life's motto? Fight To
Live. Doing the right thing is always the right thing to do. (Two of my
favorite quotes from my dad)
Your inspiration? I like to be
inspired by my surroundings. The kids in my youth group inspire me with their
energy and zeal. My friends inspire me with their creativity and passion. My
family inspires me with their commitment to living out the Word.
Teamwork or fly solo? Both.
I'm a huge fan of working together to achieve something, but I also am a firm
believer that every person needs to be able to have their own personal
successes.
If you woke up tomorrow and had to start a new career,
what would it be?
Probably put a lot more time and energy into
freelance design.
How do you plan to self improve? Focusing less on being a youth minister, and more time
on being a Christ-follower.
What advice do you have for future generations? Always do what you know in your heart is right.
Describe yourself in 3 words? loyal, creative, passionate
Causes you support? Salvation
Army; Invisible Children; To Write Love on Her Arms
How do you spend your down time? At the beach, skateboarding, snowboarding or playing
guitar.
Passions and diversions? Art, music, movies and road trips.

What's next for you? Right
now I'm developing a program called
'Blank Page' that helps churches create a name, mission statement and logo for
their ministries.
What are you working toward? I'm working towards writing a book, "God, Dad and
Baseball" that talks about all of the things I learned while sitting next
to my dad at baseball games as a kid.
How will you make your mark? I'd like to leave my mark on this world by the
relationships that I have while I'm here.
