Six communication students recently placed in the statewide Zenith Awards competition sponsored by the Oklahoma City chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Senior Alison Roberts received a first place Zenith award in the category of public relations writing. Seniors Brittany Meredith and Wendy Sanders received a second place Merit award in the category of public relations class project campaign.

Oklahoma Christian students swept all three awards in the public relations publications category. Senior Kristin Cumbie received a first place Zenith award, junior Jacey Jacobs received a second place Merit award and Senior Brad Hurd received a third place Honorable Mention award.

“These awards highlight the talents and abilities of our public relations students,” said Dr. Larry Jurney, chair of the communication department. “We are proud of these winners and know that they will be strong contributors to the field of public relations very soon.”

The annual Zenith Awards competition recognizes the best public relations work by college students. This year there were 74 entries submitted by 100 students from five colleges in Oklahoma. The competition is sponsored by the Oklahoma City chapter of PRSA, the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals.
