Karla Taylor has always been a minister's wife.  She and her husband, Mark, have been in full-time ministry since they graduated from OC in 1984.  Summer Lashley is new to the whole minister's wife role as she and her husband, Andy, came to ministry after working for several years in business and marketing.  Andy and Summer also attended OC and both graduated in 2000.  Karla and Summer's paths crossed when both of their husbands came to serve at the Memorial Road church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Together, Karla and Summer have created a website to fortify other women whose husbands have a role in ministry.  "We have served congregations in 3 different states for over 25 years and each one has blessed us in its own unique way," states Karla.

But Summer and Karla both realize that not all families in ministry are as blessed as they have been so they wanted to do something to help. In March of 2008 their website, Married to Ministry (www.marriedtoministry.org), debuted.

Married to Ministry will seek to strengthen ministry families in a variety of ways.  There is a weekly devotional thought; there is a blog spot, where a woman (ministry leader's wife, elder's wife, minister's wife, etc) is talking about her day-to-day life as a wife.

On the 15th of each month they will highlight a woman in ministry.  There will also be a discussion board to talk about issues facing women who serve alongside their husbands with topics ranging from child-rearing with a congregation watching to finances to developing your own spiritual walk.    From time to time it will include a discussion with a preacher's kid (both past and present).

"The internet is a great way for women to communicate.  We don't even have to be in the same country to share our life experiences and learn from each other," says Summer, "As a busy mother of young children, I look forward to hearing from other ministry wives and learning how they do it all!"

Take a moment to visit the site and share in the blessings of being Married to Ministry (www.marriedtoministry.org).
