As Oklahoma prepares to celebrate the state's centennial, Oklahoma Christian University is celebrating its history with Homecoming 2007, "OklaHomecoming," Nov. 9 and 10.

A fun-filled weekend of activities for the whole family will kick off Friday with the alumni golf tournament and conclude Saturday evening with the Athletic Hall of Fame dinner.

"Homecoming is always a special time of the year at OC. We love bringing together our alumni with our current students and celebrating the things that make OC such a special place to live and learn," said OC director of alumni relations, Michael Mitchell. "We offer a little something for every member of the family and hope it is a weekend they won’t soon forget."

The weekend will blend together the traditional reunions and chapel services with first time events such as the OCWA "Flapjack Trough Feed."

The Homecoming Banquet on Friday evening will honor Distinguished Alumna Richard Shough and Distinguished Young Alumna Niquel Gordon, both who are impacting their worlds in very positive and encouraging ways. Tickets for the banquet are $20 and can be purchased in advance here.

Lawson Commons will serve as the venue for a concert by Hollywood Record recording group Ingram Hill. The free concert will also serve as food drive to benefit the Oklahoma City Rescue Mission as they prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Ingram Hill was featured on the soundtrack for the “13 Going on 30.”

Saturday afternoon’s pre-game festivities will include a parade, carnival and lunch followed by both the men’s basketball game verses Oklahoma Wesleyan and women’s game verses Point Loma Nazarene. The homecoming coronation will take place immediately prior to the men’s game.

The homecoming musical, “West Side Story,” will have performances at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 2007 celebrates the 50th anniversary of the show and will mark the 20th anniversary of the performance of “West Side Story,” at OC. Tickets for all performances can still be purchased by calling the OC Box Office at 405.425.5540.

Former men’s basketball coach Jerry Jobe and former soccer/tennis All-American Sam Winterbotham will be inducted into the Oklahoma Christian Athletic Hall of Fame at the dinner on Saturday evening.
