Students and art patrons filled the gallery Friday night at the opening of the second Wishing Well Benefit Art Show.
“I think the show has been a tremendous success so far. Even aside from the money raised, the greatest joy is to see the excitement of purpose wash over a community, as people get involved,” Ryan Groves, Wishing Well visionary director said.
In this first week, Wishing Well raised over $1,500 and is hopeful for even more success over the coming weeks, especially with the number of visitors expect on campus this weekend for World Mission Workshop.
Besides the money, Groves is also hopeful that the art will help stimulate dialogue and interest on the Oklahoma Christian University campus about the conditions in the impoverished regions of Africa.
“The focus of this art show wasn’t raising funds so much as it is establishing a foundation from which we can build up and move forward,” Grooves said.
The gallery will be open for viewing for three more weeks.
