Where in the World is OC?
Blog Home All Blogs

Here's a three point plan for the next time you take that vacation or mission trip to some famous or exotic location:

1. Take some OC gear.

2. Take your picture wearing it.

3. Tell us where you are and what you're doing.

If you email the photo to us at alumni@oc.edu, we'll post it on our alumni website... and it might even appear in the next issue of VISION magazine.

Don't have any OC gear? Buy some here. In the mean time, feel free to post pictures of yourself not wearing OC gear and we'll Photoshop an OC logo in somewhere if we decide to use it in VISION magazine.

We look forward to seeing those pictures!

A City of Elegance

Posted By Allison N. Maass (Hreczuch), Thursday, August 16, 2007
Our last trip before our daughter Caitlin was born was to a surprisingly elegant spa town in the Czech Republic.  Karlovy Vary attracts visitors from all over Europe with its natural mineral springs--people all over are seen sipping their water mugs freshly filled from one of the many fountains.  I thought it tasted like warm salty water (not personally one of my favorites-!) and could only manage a couple swallows before feeling nauseous.  Here I am standing in front of one of the spa buildings--but unlike our common use of the word "spa," these buildings only provide shelter for a few of the spring's fountains and are not for massages and bathing.  Believe it or not, this building can also be seen in the newest James Bond film, "Casino Royale," as the front of the casino.  When I saw it in the movie I was shocked to recognize that I had actually seen it in person!
